Weekly Live Zoom with Bruce
One hour, every week. Bruce opens with Q&A on the unit you just finished, then introduces and demos the next in real time, responding to what you are experiencing. Not a script.
A 24-week, cohort-based apprenticeship with Bruce Becker. Live. Structured. Built around your actual playing, not a video library you work through alone.
That's not a knock. That's the reality of how most drumming instruction is built. You get content. You don't get correction. You watch, you try, you plateau, and there's nobody there to tell you what you're missing.
This is different. Not because the content is better. Because Bruce is there. Every week. Watching your progress. Responding to what he actually sees in your playing.
Here's exactly what's included, no fine print, no asterisks.
One hour, every week. Bruce opens with Q&A on the unit you just finished, then introduces and demos the next in real time, responding to what you are experiencing. Not a script.
A second live session between the weekly Zooms. Raise problems and questions while you are in the middle of the work, not after you have already moved on.
Each lesson includes a focused demo video and a text description of the exercise. Content that supports the live sessions, not the other way around.
Every lesson ships with a downloadable PDF. Take the work offline. Practice with the sheet in front of you, away from a screen.
Post questions for Bruce or other students between sessions. You are not working in isolation. The cohort moves together.
The course video library and all materials stay with you after the cohort ends. The work you do here is yours to keep.
The Platinum Technique Course is built on 45 years of hands-on problem solving, rooted in the teaching tradition of Freddie Gruber, whose students include Neil Peart, Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, and Peter Erskine. Bruce studied directly under Freddie and has spent four decades applying and refining this approach with hundreds of real students.
Bruce studied directly with Freddie Gruber, the legendary teacher behind some of the most respected names in drumming. This isn't another opinion. It's a verified tradition, carried forward through 45 years of teaching.

How the stick sits in the hand. How the hand moves with the stick, not against it. Proper placement, finger control, pressure points, and the tension-and-release system that creates efficient, relaxed motion. Most technique problems begin here, and so does the course.
Touch is how the stick meets the drum. Tone is what the drum gives back when you stop fighting it. Feel is the physical connection between you, the stick, and the music. When these work together, the drum opens up and speaks.
The stick wants to rebound. The question is whether you are working with that energy or fighting it. This pillar is about harnessing natural arc and momentum, letting physics do the work so you stop forcing every stroke.
Concepts build on each other in sequence, the way a real student progresses under a real teacher. You don't jump ahead. Each unit prepares you for the next.
Foundation. Thumb placement, finger control, balance point awareness, pivot motion for efficiency and flow.
Doubles, jazz ride cymbal application, fragmented hand movements. Technique meets musical phrasing.
Coordination, control, and how individual exercises function as a connected system.
Pivot-catch-up motions, single and triple paradiddles, paradiddle-diddle variations and flows.
Finger control, rebound awareness, stick recovery mechanics and flowing triplet patterns.
Whip-like motions, controlled rebounds, dynamic control and endurance with relaxed hands.
Wrist motion, stick pathway, and controlled wrist-driven strokes. Foundation for the Moeller system.
French and German mechanics merge into a unified system. Flexibility, control, and efficiency across all stick motions.
Controlled wrist-driven strokes using German grip. The stick rebounds naturally within the hand.
Light tap strokes interact with stronger primary strokes. Smooth transitions between singles and doubles.
Strike and kick-up mechanics that power the Moeller system. Dynamic control, efficiency, endurance.
Moeller within the German grip framework. Power, control, and efficiency, the full system unified.
You've been playing for years. You've hit walls you can't break through. You've tried the books, the online platforms, the YouTube rabbit holes. Maybe in-person lessons, something, but not the thing.
Drumming isn't a hobby for you. It's identity. And somewhere in the gap between where you are and where you want to be, you're carrying real frustration.
Maybe it's tension at the kit. Physical fatigue that shouldn't be there. A feeling that you're fighting the instrument instead of playing it. Maybe you've started to wonder if the wall is permanent.
It isn't. But you're not going to break through it alone, and you're not going to break through it watching another video library.
Bruce studied directly with Freddie Gruber, the legendary teacher whose students include Neil Peart, Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, and Peter Erskine. That lineage isn't a credential Bruce hangs on a wall. It's the foundation of everything he teaches.
He's worked with David Garibaldi, Tris Imboden, Mark Schulman, and Glen Sobel. He's delivered master classes across the US, Europe, South America, and Australia. He's a featured educator at Drumeo. He co-founded the David Becker Tribune, recording 10 albums on MCA Records.
What makes Bruce different isn't the resume. It's what he sees. He can identify the slightest compensatory movement, the shoulder that comes in when it shouldn't, the residual reflex undermining the technique you're trying to build.
This is not a course you work through alone. Bruce is live every week, watching your progress. The accountability and direct feedback are built into the structure, not optional add-ons. You cannot disappear. He will notice.
Compare it to private lessons, $100-150 an hour, inconsistent quality, no structured progression arc. Twenty-four weeks of weekly live access to Bruce, with a complete curriculum and direct feedback on your playing, at a fraction of that cost.
None. The path of least resistance approach works regardless of where you are starting. Beginners through experienced players all benefit. This is not about how much you know, it is about how you move.
All you need is a pair of sticks and a practice pad to start. That is it.
